GLORIA, from Latin, Glory, an emocore band with influences as diverse as the Deftones, Mineral, Strife and SunnyDayRealEstate.
GLORIA was formed in mid 2001 from the ashes of hiphopHC outfit Dead Messengers by a group of friends who just wanted to make loud music.
Essentially, GLORIA is a unity band, and this theme is central to every aspect of the band. It can be seen in the line up which includes members from vastly different background both musically and ethnically. This diversity is reflected in GLORIA's songs, all written from personal experience, which range from the antiracist hardcore of songs like "Kill the Pollution", to the intensely personal emo of songs like "Red" and "It's OK".
In spite of their relative infacy as a band, GLORIA have already begun to make a name for themselves. Playing to enthusiastic response at several "SONIC EdGE" gigs, headlining Young Life's "Spring Madness" gig in April 2001, playing to a packed house at Mr. B's, and featuring in the upcoming "sub-c:the emo sessions" gig.
