PLAINSUNSET was formed in 1994 by 4 guys who were into alternative music and they just wanted to create their own stuff. Started playing indie noise with lots of influences. They were called DUM then. Thru they years they moved on to punk rock. A year later 3 of the band members left wanting to do other things. Sham the remaining survivor of DUM, recruited new members for the band. When he finally got hold of the present line up which is Jon, Ronny and Nizam, they changed their name to PLAINSUNSET.
They recorded an unreleased demo. After that, when they think that they were ready to record an album, they did. It was under Straits Records who is one of the independent labels in Singapore. The first EP is entitled Runaway. After playing lots of gigs and shows at the Substation, Youth Park, HMV, Far East Square, they decided that they recorded a new EP which is called "Love Songs For The Emotionally Wounded". For the release of this EP, they toured New Zealand. Played 5 shows with some hardcore, punk and ska bands there like Foamy Ed , Mums Dollar and Hold Fast. After the tour they are planning a next one maybe Australia and they are now, planning a 3rd EP which explores the basics of melodic punk rock
