VERTICAL RUSH

Vertical Rush
| Esmond Wee - vocals | Ian Benedict Ortega - lead guitar | Nicholas Chim - rhythm guitar | Shaun Selvaraj Draviam Samuel - bass guitar | Daren Goh - drums/percussion |

Formed in 1998 with four friends wanting to play for their school's music extravaganza, Vertical Rush has since changed and evolved to be a permanent 5 member outfit. They have had the opportunity to share their music to people in places like the NYC Youth Park, Esplanade, Boat Quay, Hard Rock Café and even in Malaysia and Philippines. Their music has been often described to be a mesh and tinge of bands like Jimmy Eat World, Goo Goo Dolls, U2, Switchfoot and maybe even some Sum41.
Being a very "independent" and "diverse" sounding band, the members that make up Vertical Rush are also equally as diverse in their music.
Throughout all their songs, Ian, the lead guitarist expresses heart?breaking hooks and melodies that compliment the structure of the song both mentally, and emotionally. Nick the rhythm guitarist however has a more unorthodox and honest approach to making music, choosing to disregard all forms of convention in the areas of music. Bassist, Shaun and lead singer, Esmond have a softer approach to music, making music with their hearts rather than their heads and always keeping what they play honest, true and close to their hearts. Daren, the drummer approaches music with a jazzist's attitude, hence adding an even higher level of complexity and feel to the music.
What makes the sound of Vertical Rush work is the compromise and chemistry between
each and every individual in the band, and is also where the heart and soul of Vertical Rush's music lies, right in the middle, and that's when magic happens.
